Each and every one of my cowhide rugs is individually photographed and is described as honestly as possible. I know of no other company that sells cowhides that does this for their customers. Because of the tanning process that is used on my steerhide rugs, if properly cared for, these cowhides should last you a LIFETIME of enjoyment!! Making my cow hide rugs a better investment than all of the cheap quality cowhides that you will find which crack and lose their hair over time because of their stiffness. As in the cattle business, which is my background, my business counts on my customers' ability to trust my word. So you can believe it when I tell you my cowhides will never crack with age, the hair won't turn yellow and fall out and you'll only receive cowhide rugs that smell of fresh leather instead of the chemicals that they were tanned in. If you decide to buy a cheap cowhide, you're likely going to be getting an inferior cowhide that won't stand the test of time like mine will. It should be noted that since cowhides are a natural product, they will sometimes have natural markings or brands that just add character. It's a known fact in this industry that only 1% of ALL cowhide rugs will be free of any markings at all, including scratches from barbed wire fences, insect bites or professionally repaired areas. These are things that are just to be expected when using a natural product. However I am careful to choose ONLY cowhides that have minimal markings, if any, that don't detract from the beauty of the cowhide and for the most part are just brands that only add character to the hide. My practice is to only sell cowhide rugs that I would be proud to keep for myself or to give as a present to a loved-one. When taking the photos, I look them over and if a cowhide rug has a repair that is noticeable from the top side of the cowhide, I do my best to make note of it and to provide a photo. These particular cowhides provide an opportunity to get an extremely high quality cowhide rug that are priced lower than they would have been otherwise. These repaired areas are professionally done, blending in extremely well so that they're virtually, if not totally, invisible.
Another important, often-overlooked characteristic of my cowhide rugs is their excellent, clean shape often not found elsewhere. If you're purchasing a cowhide to simply use to upholster something with, this will be an unimportant quality, but if you're purchasing one to use for a floor rug or wall-hanging, you'll want to be certain to get a cowhide rug with a nice shape to it. Just recently, I was looking at another website and while their cowhides appeared to be otherwise decent quality and were priced comparable to mine, the shape of their cowhides was extremely irregular, with very jagged edges.
